The ISHRS is a prestigious and exclusive organization that ensures a high level of professional quality for their members. It was founded in 1993 to promote the highest standards of medical practice and ethics in hair restoration for surgeons, researchers, assistants, and others around the world. They achieve this by offering opportunities for continuing education for physicians, international collegiality, public outreach, and promoting research.
The ISHRS Fellowship Training Program trains physicians and offers educational materials and online resources, as well as lectures and workshops. Their biggest event is the ISHRS World Congress, an international meeting of the top experts in hair restoration. They also write textbooks, and industry-leading texts such as the Core Curriculum in Hair Restoration Surgery, FUE Clinical Practice Guidelines, and Common/Best Practices in Hair Restoration Surgery. Their pro bono program, “Operation Restore”, offer free surgery and covers travel expenses, and has covered over $825,000 for victims of trauma and disease who couldn’t otherwise afford treatment.
