Learn More

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a minimally invasive in-office procedure where individual hair follicles are harvested, typically from the back or side of the scalp, and are artistically transplanted into the recipient (balding) area. The follicles are harvested one at a time using an automated round punch leaving tiny round scars that are less noticeable than the linear visible scar that is possible from other transplant procedures.

Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) is an in-office hair restoration method used to treat hair loss or baldness by transplanting hair follicles from the donor area to the recipient area. FUE is commonly referred to as the “strip method” because the hair restoration procedure begins with the surgeon removing a narrow strip of skin from the back of the scalp. The strip is carefully sliced, or slivered, into thin sheets and the individual grafts are carefully separated and then transplanted. It is possible to visibly see a linear scar from the scalp removal after the procedure, however, this can be hidden by the overlaying hair, or the appearance can be reduced through other cosmetic scar-repairing techniques. Contrary to popular belief, this technique is routinely used and is the most efficient method for harvesting a large number of grafts.

Learn More

Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, stimulates hair growth and regeneration of hair follicles using natural sources from your blood. Enriching hair grafts with PRP can enhance graft survival, improve hair density, and stimulate growth. PRP offers a bioactive cellular treatment for hair loss and balding, with platelet-derived growth factors.  PRP acts like a “fertilizer for your scalp” by accelerating wound healing and increasing hair density.  There is no risk of disease transmission or allergic reaction since PRP is processed from your own blood. PRP treatments can be repeated as often as every 1-2 weeks.

FAQs
Are Hair Transplants Temporary?

Hair transplants are a permanent solution for hair loss. Once the transplanted hair follicles are successfully established in their new location, they should continue to grow hair in a manner similar to the surrounding natural hair. Since the transplanted hair is resistant to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is often responsible for hair loss, the results are usually long-lasting.

It’s important to note that while hair transplants are considered permanent, they do not prevent the progression of hair loss in other areas of the scalp. Therefore, individuals who are genetically predisposed to ongoing hair loss may continue to experience thinning or balding in areas not treated with a transplant.

The success of a hair transplant also depends on various factors, including the quality of the donor hair, and the overall health of the patient’s existing hair, and post-procedure follow-up care.  Additionally, other factors such as age, hormonal changes, and medical conditions can influence the long-term outcome of a hair transplant.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Good candidates are generally healthy men or women between the ages of 26 to 75. Certain health conditions or medication might impact the suitability for a hair transplant and this will be discussed with you during your complimentary consultation.

Candidates should have sufficient donor area with healthy hair follicles and reasonable expectations of the limitations and achievable outcomes of the procedure.

What is the Difference between FUT and FUT?

FUT vs FUE diagramDuring your complimentary consultation with the surgeon, you will discuss your medical history, assess your hair loss, and provide you with a treatment plan for the procedure(s) that would provide the best possible outcomes to meet your hair restoration goals. The treatment plan will guide you to the procedure best suited for you, but we can also discuss the differences in greater detail during your consultation if you happen to be a candidate for both FUE and FUT.

Will there be Downtime?

You may bathe or shower and resume most activities within the first 24-48 hours with some limitations to protect your scalp and ensure optimal healing.

After your procedure you may experience mild swelling over the forehead, eyelids, and checks  and should be reduced within the first 72 hours; sleeping in a recliner or evaluating your head at a 20-30 degree angle can also lessen this.

It’s essential to follow your surgeon’s post-operative care instructions diligently to promote healing and minimize any potential complications. They may also advise you on when you can resume your normal activities, including work and exercise. Always consult with your surgeon for personalized information regarding your recovery process.

What is the Cost? Is there Financing?

At Imami Hair Restoration your cost will be a flat fee and is not determined by the number of individual hairs transplanted, so there are no surprises. Scheulde your complimentary consultation to discuss. Financing is available through our partnership with Affirm.

Is the Procedure Painful?

This is a well-tolerated in-office procedure conducted under local anesthesia and a mild relaxant, usually Valium.  Due to the intricate work to harvest and implant your hair follicles, the procedure can take over 5 hours, your hair transplant team will do everything to help you feel comfortable and relaxed during your procedure. A break for the restroom, water, or a quick snack is factored into the procedure. Bring a podcast to listen to or your favorite tunes to help the time go by quickly.
